Russian Army Fir Cap famously captured on Op Vodka (RARE)
“The spoils of war”, this Russian cap was looted from a guerilla camp called Mboroma during Op Vodka in Zambia proudly worn by it new owner, Keith Samler in 1979.
This incredible item was donated by Keith Samler to the SSRA to raise funds to assist the brave men who served.
This item belongs to Supt Keith Samler (number 6657) - one of the 19 incredible BSAP Special Branch Officers attached to the Selous Scouts. Keith has the distinction of being one of only 2 police officers awarded parachute wings (Wings number 1081), he is the only police officer who has operational jumps in the Rhodesian Military. Keith was deeply involved in the activities of the Selous Scouts including pseudo operations and external operations into Mozambique and Zambia including an operational external parachute deployment on Operation Vodka in Zambia.
